History
Originally one of two shops in the village, the General Stores and Post Office moved together to a purpose built site in 1974. The Post Office was actually located in the house next door for a long period, from the late 19th Century through to the 1930's (see photo). We took over in January 2014, Post Office Ltd fitted a modernised counter, and we totally revamped the store ready for our grand opening on 17th January. Nothing stands still for long, and the contract with Post Office Ltd has now expired. This was seen as a great opportunity to move the shop into a redundant room alongside the Tankerville Arms, just next door. We now have a little more space in store, a cafe where you can currently enjoy a tasty breakfast 4 days a week, and a car park!
